Landa Park This 196-acre park near the center of the city is the pride of New Braunfels. Comal Springs, the largest springs in Texas and the source of the crystalline Comal River, is located in the park. The springs gush from underground limestone formations throughout the park area. The Comal River gained attention years ago when Ripley's Believe it or Not featured it in their news column as the shortest river in the world! The springs were founded in 1691 by Spanish explorers. Activities today include: paddle boats, rowboats, glass bottom boats, nature trails, tennis, minature golf, the unique inner-tube float down the Comal River, and the Landa Park Miniature Railroad with its one and one-half mile track around the entire park. There is an olympic size pool and a huge spring-fed pool. There are scores of beautiful picnic areas shaded by giant, ancient oaks, and a challenging 18-hole golf course. Natural Bridge Caverns Enjoy a 75-minute tour through a half-mile of Texas' largest and most spectacular show cavern. Adjacent to the caverns is Natural Bridge Wildlife Park, the place to encounter free-roaming exotic and endangered animals. Gruene, TX Founded by Ernst and Antoinette Gruene (pronounced "Green") in 1840, this is the historic home of Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest dance hall. In this tiny restored ghost town you'll also find a Victorian cottage, a mercantile store built in 1878, and a cotton gin powered by the Guadalupe River. Catch a view of the Guadalupe River rapids, and arrange a float trip. Great eating and antiques! Canyon Lake Approximately 30 miles for Texas River Condo is noted for its deep, blue water and 80 miles of scenic shoreline. There are seven public parks with picnic areas, swimming beaches, and boat launches. Camping, fishing, hiking, cycling, boating and golfing are at their best.
